School Squad
We are very proud of our Year 6 School Squad, who continue to do a fabulous job at ensuring our school is maintained, whilst also being given a sense of responsibility. This work is very much in line with our school ethos and one in which promotes key British Values; this role in particular enabling our students to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence
The children take their roles very seriously and feel very proud to be conducting important jobs throughout school. As the present Year 5’s will soon be Year 6, they need to watch out for the application forms which will be distributed in the Autumn Term 2016 in order to apply for one of the roles – watch this space!
As part of School Squad’s role, we have our ‘Cliffe Hill Carbon Cops’ - a role which attempts to promote to the children the importance of consuming energy efficiently throughout school and really looking after our beautiful building and its environment. ‘Carbon Cops’ will be responsible for checking around school how effectively we are using energy, if we are recycling properly and also ensuring that the areas in and around school are kept as clean and tidy as possible. If the Carbon Cops see that these things are not happening correctly, then an Eco Penalty Notice will be issued! The class who receives the most points over the term, will receive a reward and a certificate. In terms of financial impact to the school, although it may be fairly small, there has to be a cumulative saving over time if lights, projectors and heating are not being wasted!
