Phonics presentation for parents
Many thanks to all who have joined us for a parent phonics session. In case you missed it, here is our presentation.
reading at home
Reading is such an important life skill and we ensure it has great importance here at Cliffe Hill. Reading at home with your child is invaluable to their progress and their love of reading. It can help to improve their vocabulary, comprehension skills and can help to open the door to all other subjects. Stories are not the only thing you could read together – why not share a set of instructions or follow a recipe together? We read everywhere and all the time – so find what you love to read if stories are not your thing!
We use an online reading record called Boom Reader which can be accessed via an app or on the website - https://boomreader.co.uk/
Your child’s teacher will assign the book they are reading on Boom Reader and when your child has read with you at home you can add a comment. This could be if they have enjoyed the book or not, any words they found tricky to read or any interesting comments they made. You can also add any other books that your child is reading at home – we would love to see what you are reading together!
